This article explains the difference between a primary and secondary lot number and how it's used in Proceed ERP Software.
A primary lot is the original lot. It acts as the source lot, which establishes traceability of the seed. A primary lot will typically be raw seed.
A secondary lot or sub-lot comes from the primary lot. You can assign a Source Lot to a sub-lot, establishing the relationship and connection between the two.
A Primary Lot can be used in Proceed Software at the Vendor Location level, where you can track a Primary Lot out in the field.
The top right of the edit lot screen is where you manage whether a lot if primary or not:

The middle of the More Info tab on the edit lot screen is where you can create the Primary/Secondary lot connection:
